A Rush of Patriotism

What an exciting 2 months lay ahead of us! We have Sarah Palin, the first woman ever on the GOP Vice-Presidential ticket and only the second in history (anyone remember Geraldine Ferraro?). Plus we have an African American on the Democratic ticket, born just 6 years after the Montgomery Bus Boycotts when African Americans in Alabama were fighting for a seat on the public buses. Now, a mere 53 years later, Barack Obama is fighting for a seat in the Oval Office. I freakin' love this country.

  1. I agree!! Being married to an African American...and not being one myself...well we are just beside ourselves in this house. Our son gets to vote for the very first time and it's pretty exciting all the things that are happening. Only in the good ole USofA. Makes ya proud, huh!

  3. My 82 yr. old Father, who spent almost all of the 1st half of his life in the extremely segregated rural South, said he never thought he'd see the day a 'colored' man would run for President, let alone, the day he'd be voting for that same man. There's a lot of untouched humor here that deserves to be published at a later date, right now, I'm just SOOOO PROUD to be a Citizen of this great Country, and, to have the opportunity to help select a candidate because of their ability, not because of their race or sex. I won't start on my politics unless asked, and, then I'll need your private e-mail, I do not wish to run too many of Ms. Jullie's audience away.

  5. I'm even watching from north of the border to see what happens. It looks like we're going to have an election this fall up here too, but we've only got two old white guys to chose from. Sigh.

  6. It is quite something, and no I don't really remember Geraldine, but I have a feeling we will all remember Ms. Palin!

  7. I like Ms. Palin but I just found out McCain's age. Wow. The USA just might end up with a woman president anyway!
Oh, and I miss your posts....you must be busy. Sigh.
