8 Random Things

I've been sitting in front of my computer screen for about 15 minutes typing and immediately backspacing over everything I type. I'm just not feeling the creative vibe today. So, in lieu of the traditional blog entry, I've decided to post 8 random things about myself per the request of Christina Katz at Writer Mama. Here goes:

1. I met my husband at a summer camp. He was the outdoor education director and I was the waterfront director. He proposed to me on the bridge that connected the two areas.  Ready to vomit yet?

2. I have Lupus but it doesn't have me.

3. I call both my kids, "Tee Pee." My son because his initials are T.P.H. and my daughter because one of her most popular nicknames is Tater Pie.

4. When I blast my CD's in the car, I sing along at the top of my lungs and fantasize that I am on stage. My children probably think this is normal behavior.

5. I used to love hair bands, all hair bands. Skid Row, Poison, Danger Danger, RATT, Motley Crue, the list goes on...

6. I am completely addicted to "Rock of Love" with Bret Michaels on VH-1

7. I had a major crush on Perry King from "Riptide" in my tweens.

8. I love to pick scabs. It repulses me but I do it compulsively.

Hope you enjoyed this revealing look inside of my warped mind.

  3. You could have kept going with the romance theme, insisting on being married on the hottest day of August in the out-door garden of the same summer camp, (GAG, CHOKE), could it be the love of hair bands had something to do with your choice of life mates? Also, I need some clarification, your scabs or someone else's ?? AND.....about the things you left out...it's hardly fair to limit a diverse personality such as yourself to only 8 items unless you plan on this being a weekly column. (Now tell me true, ain't it great havin' redneck in-laws that have known you for a long, long, long time, and don't ya just love my distorted memory???)

  4. Oooh, I love hair bands, too. Bon Jovi will totally forever be my favorite. And I'm waiting to see if Bret Michaels ever takes off the hat/bandanna. Think he's losing some hair? :-)

  5. Scab Clarification: Once when Julianne was babysitting my children, Katherine had a giant scab on her knee---and I mean it was huge! When I returned, the scab was gone, nowhere to be found. I already knew about her compulsive scab-picking obsession, but she swore she didn't pick it and blamed it's disappearance on my dog. Hmm...y'all can be the judge.

  9. Papa Dale-
I'm an equal opportunity scab picker. Sean is my usual victim though Poor guy.
Yep, my attraction to Sean was definitely intensified by his shiny locks.

  10. Tiffani-
I'm wholeheartedly convinced that Bret Michaels is hiding a receding hairline under that bandanna. It works for him though.

  12. Jacquelyn-
I stand by my innocence. I draw the line at picking other people's children's scabs!

  13. Thank you sweet Lord for that line you drew julianne!!!

  14. What can I say, Melinda? Even I have my limits.

  15. Apparently my peeling forehead was NOT off limits though, Julianne. You just couldn't stand it and had to peel a little piece the other night at dinner!! So, while she may draw the line at her friend's children, evidently friends are fair game!! Let me add, that while I allowed her momentary access to my peeling sunburn, I would have drawn the line at letting her pick one of my scabs.

  16. Scab picker here... I can't help it!
My Grandmother has Lupus and my mom has an auto-imune disease which we think is lupus. I have a very good chance of having lupus too as I am my mother's child.
I still think that this is auto single spacing! I KNOW that I'm double spacing myself.
